Endeavour Language Teacher Fellowships
The Endeavour Language Teacher Fellowships (ELTF), a part of the Australian Government’s broader Endeavour Awards provides a professional learning opportunity for practicing language teachers and trainee (pre-service) language teachers in Australian universities to participate in short-term intensive language and cultural study programs overseas and in Australia.

Scholarships available to Indigenous students wanting to undertake postgraduate study in Australia or overseas
The Aurora Project has recently published an easy-to-use guide to over 120 scholarships available to Indigenous students wanting to undertake postgraduate study in Australia or overseas.
The scholarships are across a range of disciplines including: architecture, the arts, business, education, engineering, government, health, humanities, IT and law.

International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS)
For Applicants: All enquiries regarding IPRS awards need to be directed to the university at which the applicant wishes to conduct their postgraduate research. Applications for a scholarship need to be made directly to a participating university. Universities are responsible for determining the selection process by which scholarships are allocated to applicants. Opportunities to study in Europe
Australian postgraduate applicants may wish to enquire into scholarships offered under the Erasmus Mundus program by visiting the European Commission website.

National Scholarship Programme of The Slovak Republic
The National Scholarship Programme of the Slovak Republic is intended to support mobility of foreign students, PhD students, university teachers and researchers to stay at Slovak universities and Slovak research organizations.

The Antoni de Montserrat Programme (Casa Asia)
The Antoni de Montserrat Programme is allocating three grants worth €4,000 each for high-achieving individuals to participate in meetings, courses, seminars, trade fairs and cultural festivals organised by public and private institutions or organisations in Spain. Finnish Government Scholarships
The Finnish Government offers scholarships to Australians for postgraduate studies, research and teaching for 3-9 months at a higher education institution or public research institute in Finland. Please note that Masters' courses are not considered as postgraduate studies in Finland. These scholarships are meant for postgraduate studies or research and that priority will be given to doctoral studies.

The Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation scholarships and research grants
Scholars, postgraduate students, researchers and artists are being offered a number of awards under the Foreigners’ Fellowships Programme to study in Greece. The program also includes a number of awards for Primary and Secondary teachers of the Greek language. Turkish Government Scholarships available to Australian students
The Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Turkey will provide higher education scholarships and Turkish language and culture summer course scholarships to Australian students.
All relevant information regarding these scholarships including conditions, requirements, selection process and application forms are available from the Ankara website.

German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) promotes relations between German and Higher Education institutions abroad, through student exchange, academics and scientists. DAAD is Germany's largest scholarship-awarding organisation and runs several programs with academic exchange between Germany and all parts of the world are supported.
The scholarships offered by DAAD are awarded to advanced students, higher education graduates and academics from fields of science, humanities, music and art. These programs range from short-term exchanges for research or teaching through to doctoral scholarships lasting several years.

Southern Cross Cultural Exchange - Secondary School level international exchange scholarships for Australian Students
Southern Cross Cultural Exchange is a not-for-profit organisation specialising in exchange programs for secondary students which seek to promote tolerance and further international understanding. Since 1983 SCCE has exchanged over 13,000 students with over 27 countries.
Each year SCCE offers four scholarships to become an exchange student, living with a local host family and attending a local secondary school, in France, Germany and Italy.
Students must be between 14 and 18 years of age to be eligible for scholarship consideration.
SCCE also offers student exchange programs to countries throughout Western Europe and Scandinavia, North America and Japan, varying from in length from six weeks to ten months.

Sri Lanka
Government of Sri Lanka Scholarships
The Government of Sri Lanka has announced a new scholarship scheme for foreign students to undertake study in Sri Lanka, either at the undergraduate or postgraduate level. Two scholarships will be available to Australian students for the 2011/12 academic year. Applications are to be submitted to the Sri Lankan High Commission in Canberra by 28 September 2011. Kuwaiti Scholarship
The Ministry of Higher Education in the State of Kuwait have allocated one scholarship for Australia in the subject of Arabic Language Studies at the Kuwait University. This course will be conducted at the languages centre of the University.
The Ministry of Higher Education in the State of Kuwait will pay all expenses for the duration of the course.

Scholarship Opportunities for Australian Students to Study Arabic in Saudi Arabia
The Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Canberra advises that several universities in Saudi Arabia offer places for Australian students to undertake Arabic language studies. The Embassy is seeking nominations for these scholarships.
The scholarship opportunities include:
- King Abdul Aziz University, Jeddah has offered two places for Australian students to undertake studies in the Arabic Language Department, as well as offering to receive a number of other students to study the Arabic language for one semester, or to undertake other Arabic language courses of study
- King Saud University, Riyadh has already assigned one scholarship for the study of the Arabic language
- Umm Al-Qura University, Mecca has made available two scholarships for the study of the Arabic language (please note that by virtue of its location, students enrolled at this University must be Muslims)
- Imam Mohammad bin Saud University, Riyadh has made available five scholarships for the study of the Arabic language by Australian students in a course extending over a two year period.

North Asia
Two new scholarship programs, open to Australian students, are now available in Hong Kong. The scholarships are designed for students to study maritime law and shipping and logistics.
Hong Kong Maritime Law Scholarship Scheme
Administered by the City University of Hong Kong, the program aims to provide an intensive study of issues relating to Maritime and Transportation Law.

Hong Kong Maritime and Logistics Scholarship Scheme

Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Japan (MEXT)
Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) offers scholarships to foreign students who wish to study at Japanese universities as research students under the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship Program.
There were 5373 Monbukagakusho (MEXT) scholarships offered by MEXT in 2008 across seven categories with monthly stipends ranging from 134,000 – 258,000 yen (A$1800 - $3463) per month;
- 4130 research student (graduate school and research student) scholarships
- 70 Young Leaders Program student scholarships
- 155 Teacher training student scholarships
- 478 undergraduate student scholarships
- 340 Japanese studies student scholarships
- 90 college of technology student scholarships
- 110 professional training college student scholarships

Japan Student Services Organisation (JASSO) Scholarships
JASSO provides scholarships for international students to study at tertiary level, mainly in higher education, and also to study at Japanese language institutes. In FY2008 JASSO’s budget was 982.5 billion yen (A$13.2 billion) of which 13.1 billion yen (A$175.8 million) was allocated for international student support programs. In FY2009 MEXT has increased the budget allocation to JASSO by 40,100 million yen (A$538 million).
In 2008 JASSO provided 11,410 Honours Scholarship with monthly stipends of 50 – 70,000 yen (A$671 – $940) for privately financed international students for tertiary education. 7890 of these scholarships were for undergraduate, junior college, college of technology, professional training college, preparatory Japanese language program and university preparatory course students. JASSO also provided monthly stipends of 50,000 yen (A$671) to 690 students at Japanese language institutes, and a monthly stipend of 80,000 yen (A$1,073) to 1800 short term exchange students.

Japan Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS)
Japan Society for the Promotion of Science encourages highly qualified researchers from all over the world to come and conduct joint research activities with colleagues at Japanese universities and research institutes.

Special Graduate Program in Engineering at the University of Tokyo
The University of Tokyo offers advanced study and research opportunities to international students under the Special Graduate Program in Engineering for Systems Innovation. The program offers Master (two years) and Doctoral (three years) courses.

Darmasiswa Scholarship Program
Darmasiswa RI program is a scholarship program offered by the Indonesian government to foreign students from countries which have diplomatic relationship with Indonesia to study Bahasa Indonesia, traditional music, traditional dance and Indonesian craft.

Stanford Humanities and International Studies Fellowships
The Stanford Humanities Centre (SHC) and the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies (FSI) will jointly award two international studies fellowships for junior or senior scholars who are not US nationals.
The proposals by applicants should focus on the themes of international studies compatible with the mission of one of the research centres:
- The Walter H Shorenstein Asia/Pacific Research Centre (Shorenstein APARC)
- Centre on Democracy, Development and the Rule of Law (CDDRL)
- Centre for Health Policy (CHP/PCOR)
- Centre for International Security and Cooperation (CISAC), or
- The Forum on Contemporary Europe (FCE).
Eligible areas include, but are not limited to: history, philosophy, languages, linguistics, archaeology, ethics, comparative religion, and the history and criticism of the arts. Proposals are welcome from the social sciences employing historical or philosophical approaches, such as social and cultural anthropology, sociology, political theory and other subjects concerned with questions of value. Fellows are awarded stipends of up to $60,000 (USD) and a housing and moving allowance of up to $15,000 (USD), dependent upon need.
