There are two ways you can register to receive help from Job Services Australia:
1. Register with Centrelink - this is the most common way to register for assistance.
2. Register directly with a Job Services Australia provider - eligibility conditions apply.
Register via Centrelink
To receive help from Job Services Australia, you will generally need to register with Centrelink. Centrelink will provide you with information to enable you to choose a Job Services Australia provider and will make your first appointment for you.
Register directly with a Job Services Australia provider
Under certain circumstances you may be eligible to register directly with your local Job Services Australia provider without registering with Centrelink first. If you’re not sure, your local Job Services Australia provider will be able to determine if you are able to register directly. If you are eligible you can complete the registration form and begin receiving services from your Job Services Australia provider.

Your first appointment with your Job Services Australia provider
At your first appointment, your Job Services Australia provider will meet with you to discuss your current skills, goals and individual circumstances.
To make this easier you should bring:
- identity documents
- a letter from your employer, separation certificate or some other documentary evidence that you have lost your job (if appropriate)
- your Centrelink Customer Reference Number (if you have one)
- any education certificates
- details of your work history
- names and contact details of referees
- a copy of your résumé on disk or in hard copy, if you have one. If you don’t have a résumé, don’t worry, your Job Services Australia provider can help you prepare one.
Eligibility
If you are unemployed you are eligible to register with a Job Services Australia provider.
Your obligations
If you receive Newstart, Youth Allowance or Parenting Payment with activity test or participation requirements, you will need to look for work and take part in activities that will help you find a job.
Your Job Services Australia provider will consider your personal circumstances and negotiate suitable activities to include in your Employment Pathway Plan.
If you are unable to take part in activities you should discuss this with your Job Services Australia provider as soon as possible to avoid any changes to your income support payments.
