Applications for the Strategic Funding Pool Community Application round have closed for 2011. A new round will open in mid 2012
Have you got a new idea that can help enrich the learning opportunities for young people in the Canberra region?
The Australian Government Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) and the Education and Training Directorate of the ACT (ETD) annually invite applications for projects that will build partnerships to improve the education and transitions of young people in the ACT. This is known as the Strategic Funding Pool Community Application round.
Around mid-year we will invite applications for projects that involve partnership arrangements between members of the following stakeholder groups:
- Education and training providers
- Business and industry
- Parents and families
- Community groups
Background
The YAT NP National Partnership on Youth Attainment and Transitions was created to support the achievement of two goals: to have 90 per cent of all young people completing year 12 or an equivalent by 2015 and to increase the number of Indigenous students completing year 12 or an equivalent by 2020.
As part of the National Partnership, the ACT Youth Commitment has established a new set of expectations for ACT schools and the community regarding young people's experience in schooling and their transitions on to further education, training and work.
The ACT YAT Strategic Funding Pool has been established to:
- better align programs and activities associated with youth transitions in the ACT, and
- strategically enable programs and activities to assist the ACT to meet its YAT NP targets.
The ACT YAT Strategic Funding Pool provides funding for innovative, and sustainable projects that support or enhance the youth attainment and transition programs and activities in the ACT and support the achievement of the ACT targets identified under the YAT NP. See the attached ACT YAT Strategic Funding Pool Guidelines for more information:
Projects funded under the ACT YAT Strategic Funding Pool will develop and/or enhance programs that do one or more of the following:
- support the positive participation of young people in school (particularly those previously disengaged from school),
- support increases in the number of young people successfully achieving Year 12 Certificate outcomes or nationally accredited vocational qualifications at the Certificate II level, and
- support the positive transition of young people through school or from schooling into further education, training or employment.
The ACT YAT Strategic Funding Pool is being jointly managed by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations and the Education and Training Directorate of the ACT- (the Joint Working Group).
ACT Schools/clusters are given the opportunity to submit Strategic Funding Pool (School Round) project proposals separately through a process run by the Education and Training Directorate. This funding round is usually advertised within the ACT schools system and occurs at least annually.
Project funding
Funding of up to $80 000 is expected to be available through the Strategic Funding Pool for project proposals that clearly adhere to the Strategic Funding Pool guidelines. The amount of funding provided to each proposal will be dependent on the number of successful applications and the nature and estimated costs of each application.
Project application
In framing your project application, an application template will be provided on this website prior to the opening of applications.
The ACT Partnership Broker, the ACT Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will be available to provide assistance with the establishment of partnerships – a necessary element in your application for funding.
Please contact Nola Shoring on 6283 5246 or nola.shoring@actchamber.com.au for more information.
Reporting Requirements
Organisations who have been successful in receiving funding are required to submit a report at the conclusion of the project to the joint working group. Reports will be assessed against the project outline and the reporting requirements specified below.
In the assessment of reports, the joint working party will consider, but not be limited to, the following elements:
- evidence provided that the key project objectives have been achieved
- evidence that the timeframes have been met
- use of appropriate branding and acknowledgement required by DEEWR and ACT DET
- analysis of the outcomes of the project
- evaluation of the project and conclusions arising from this evaluation (see attached evaluation template), and
- appropriate acquittal of funding.
