Report on Agreement Making Under the Workplace Relations Act 1996
These reports fulfil the requirements of the Workplace Relations Act 1996 (WR Act) under which the Minister must cause a person to review and report on developments in Australia every few years, in bargaining for the making of agreements. For more information, see current section 844 of the Act, as extended by section 20 of Schedule 18 of the Fair Work (Transitional and Consequential Amendments) Act 2009.
The reporting requirement also includes the effects of bargaining on the employment (including wages and conditions of employment) of women, part-time employees, persons from a non-English speaking background, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander persons, persons with disability, mature age persons and young persons. These are referred to as ‘designated group employees’.
Most Recent Report: Report on Agreement Making 2007-2009
As the provisions that require this report only relate to workplace agreements made under the WR Act, this report does not cover enterprise agreements made under the Fair Work Act 2009 (FW Act). Section 653 of the FW Act requires that the next report on agreement making be produced by Fair Work Australia covering enterprise agreements made in the three year period from 1 July 2009.
