Diversity Council Australia (DCA) is the independent, not-for-profit diversity advisor to business in Australia, resourced solely by member subscriptions and advisory services. In partnership with member organisations its mission is to:
- understand and achieve leadership in diversity thinking and practice in an Australian context
- realise business improvement through successful diversity programs
- implement effective compliance management in a changing legislative environment
- publicly demonstrate commitment to diversity.
Work-life is a key component in how we view employment diversity in our current Australian legislative environment, and well-planned and executed work-life programs are integral to any effective, sustainable and leading-edge diversity strategy at individual workplaces.
DCA has been working with our members, Australia's leading diversity-oriented employers over many years to develop and implement innovative thinking and practice in this crucial area. DCA assists organisations build their flexibility capability through providing:
- Flexibility First, a specialised training on flexible working for human resource practitioners and line managers
- auditing and measuring workplace cultures to identify how organisations can make better use of the benefits of flexibility
- information, conferences and briefings on the many aspects of work-life balance and work and family
- leading-edge research and tools to generate evidence-based information and guidance on workplace diversity and work-life balance.
DCA is a longstanding partner in the former ACCI/BCA National Work and Family Awards and is delighted that our Chief Executive Officer, Nareen Young, has been invited to Chair the Judging Panel for the 2009-10 Awards to be now known as the National Work-Life Balance Awards.
