Before you begin your claim for GEERS assistance, you should read the GEERS Operational Arrangements. The Department uses the GEERS Operational Arrangements to determine if you are eligible for any GEERS assistance and the amount of any GEERS advance.

GEERS Claim Form

To apply for GEERS assistance, you will need to complete and lodge a GEERS Claim Form.

In order to assess your eligibility for GEERS assistance, the Department will use information provided by:

  • You in your GEERS Claim Form and supporting documents that you provide in support of your GEERS claim
  • The insolvency practitioner managing the business affairs of your former employer
  • A third party service provider engaged by the Department to undertake some or all of the work normally provided by the insolvency practitioner
  • Alternative employee entitlement protection schemes
  • Fair Work Australia, the Fair Work Ombudsman and the Department of Immigration and Citizenship
