Learning and Teaching Sustainability website

Through the Skills for the Carbon Challenge initiative, the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) funded the Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC), in partnership with Professor Geoff Scott of the University of Western Sydney (UWS), to survey learning programs on sustainability and associated staff development strategies in the higher education sector and develop a comprehensive framework and web resource.

The website enables:

  • academic staff and members of teaching units to find effective practice and resources for teaching sustainability
  • university leaders and policy makers to access resources on implementing programs in sustainability, staff development initiatives and embedding sustainability in policy
  • prospective students to promptly identify courses and programs with a focus on sustainability, from short courses to postgraduate study.

The website includes details of short courses, sub-majors, majors, work integrated options, cross-disciplinary, discipline-specific and transdisciplinary courses as well as double degrees and postgraduate options from graduate certificate to doctorate.

It also gives details of learning pathways and different approaches to leadership and support.

The Learning and Teaching Sustainability website is a finalist in the NSW Green Globe Awards 2011.

The Green Globe Awards are the leading environmental awards in New South Wales, recognising the achievements of business, government, community and individuals.
