"Resourcing the Future" discussion paper released

The National Resources Sector Employment Taskforce released a discussion paper, Resourcing the Future, on 1 March 2010.

The discussion paper is designed to stimulate a national conversation about the resources sector’s increasing demand for skilled labour, given the large number of major resources projects that are due to commence in the next five or more years.

The National Resources Sector Employment Taskforce is required to report to the Government by mid-2010 with a comprehensive plan to address the skilled labour needs of the resources sector.

Resourcing the future is intended to help the Taskforce to gather views and information to help it complete the plan. It contains questions to focus attention on matters of particular interest to the Taskforce.

The Taskforce is calling for submissions from interested parties, including resources companies, construction and engineering companies, education and training providers, unions, and recruitment organisations.

Submissions should be lodged by close of business 9 April 2010 by email to nrset.submissions@deewr.gov.au

The Resourcing the Future discussion paper, a list of Taskforce members and the Taskforce Terms of Reference are available to download.

To view all graphs and figures appropriately it is recommended that the Resourcing the Future discussion paper be printed in colour
