The Australian School-based Apprenticeship component of the Group Training in the Trades Program (GTTP) ceased for participant placement on 31 June 2009. The prevocational component of GTTP continues to be provided by the existing Brokers through the Group Training in the Trades Prevocational Program (GTTPP) for participant placement until 31 December 2010.

The Group Training in the Trades Prevocational Program (GTTPP) assists eligible participants to undertake an Australian Apprenticeship in the trades by providing participants with pre-vocational training in the trades in order to gain the required pre-requisites to articulate into an Australian Apprenticeship in the trades.
Particular focus will be given to trade areas which are experiencing skill shortages or where Australian Apprenticeships in the trades are being under serviced in particular areas.

Any Apprentice recruited through the Joint Group Training Program or the Group Training Australian Apprenticeships Targeted Initiatives Program cannot be recruited through the Group Training in the Trades Program.
