New pre and post training assessment reporting requirements

New pre and post training assessment reporting requirements

The WELL program has been expanded as part of the Building Australia’s Future Workforce Package announced in the May 2011 Budget. The expanded WELL program comes with the requirement for pre and post training assessment of the language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills of a sample of WELL participants to measure progress in LLN skills development against the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF). Approximately 10 per cent of participants in WELL will need to be tested.

The reason for the pre and post training assessment is to build the evidence base surrounding the effectiveness of the WELL program at increasing LLN skills.

The pre and post training assessments are measured against the ACSF, and trainers will be asked to record their assessments in the excel spreadsheet provided to you by DEEWR.

DEEWR understands that there will be a cost involved in undertaking pre and post training assessments because of the additional time required to formally assess and record LLN skills. Please contact your State or Territory DEEWR Office prior to submitting an application to find out if your project is likely to be selected for pre and post training assessments, to allow you to build in the additional costs.

Please note that if your project is selected for pre and post training assessments then all the participants within that project will undergo the assessment.

A new Funding Agreement has also been developed for projects selected for pre and post training assessment.
