Commercial passenger vehicle training guide
This training guide covers four nationally recognised competency standards from the Transport and Distribution Training Package and is for commercial passenger vehicle drivers and their trainers. The resource relates to training required to obtain an 'Open Identification Card' issued to drivers in the Northern Territory who are licensed to drive minibuses, taxis or private hire cars.
The four units of competency in the guide are:
- Driving a vehicle
- Workplace orientation
- Applying customer service
- Financial transactions.
The first section contains the trainer's guide and is broken into two sections: initial training, to be delivered over three days, followed by a further seven days of training spread over a three month period. This must be combined with 240 hours of vehicle driving. Checklists of practical tasks which the learner must complete, and related assessment tasks mapped to performance criteria are included. This is followed by the learner's guide, which provides the information needed to complete the units of competency.

Taxi: a customer service and driver safety resources
This resource is aimed for training people, with possible language and literacy problems, who want to become, or who are currently employed as, taxi drivers. The 30 minute video contains stand alone scenes which focus on examples of 'best' and 'worst' practice for drivers in such areas as customer service, interpersonal skills and dealing with conflict.
A workbook accompanies the video, including scripts of the scenes and learning points to develop discussions and promote learning. The scripts would be particularly useful for learners from non-English speaking backgrounds or learners with literacy problems. The workbook is designed to be used with the video and is not a stand alone training resource in itself. The video and workbook can be used by either taxi driver training organisations as part of a structured training program or by individuals as a self-guided learning resource.
