Deaf workers in aged care

Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE (NMIT) has produced a kit for deaf or hard of hearing people who work as caregivers in aged care settings. The kit comprises a trainer's guide and a learner's guide both of which accompany the CD ROM. The learner's guide is an introduction to the contents of the CD ROM and how to use the computer and provides examples of the on-screen exercises. The trainer's guide provides advice on the specific language and literacy learning needs of the deaf and an overview of the resource including a list of competency standards, computer requirements and useful websites to consult.
