For Job Services Australia providers

Important Information for Job Services Australia providers

Since 1 July 2009, the Productivity Places Program (PPP) is primarily being delivered by state and territory governments with the Australian Government delivering sub-elements of the program to groups of recently retrenched workers through Structural Adjustment Places (SAP) and to New Enterprise Incentive Scheme (NEIS) participants.

The Mainstream PPP

The Australian Government delivered mainstream PPP job seeker training places from April 2008 to 30 June 2009.

The state and territory governments have progressively assumed delivery of mainstream job seeker and existing worker PPP training places through 2009. This is in accordance with the Council of Australian Governments' negotiated National Partnership (NP) Agreement for PPP, which was signed by seven state and territory governments. The Victorian Government has signed a separate agreement.

The delivery of job seeker and existing worker training places by the state and territory governments from 1 July 2009 will incorporate the training commitments identified by the Compact with Young Australians and the Compact with Retrenched Workers.

To refer eligible job seekers (including individual retrenched workers) to PPP training, use the relevant state and territory government’s procedures. Contact your state or territory to find out more about their procedures. Please see Contact for state and territory government contact details.

Sub-Elements of the PPP being Administered by the Australian Government

From 1 July 2009, the Australian Government's role in the PPP is to provide direct funding for two
sub-elements of the PPP. These are:

  • 15,000 SAP to support groups of recently retrenched workers. Special conditions apply, see Structural Adjustment Places; and
  • 18,900 NEIS training places over 3 year (i.e. 6300 NEIS places per year). Special conditions apply, see NEIS-PPP Places.

To advise employers or representatives (e.g. unions or business associations) about how to access SAP training places visit Structural Adjustment Places.

To refer eligible job seekers for NEIS enrolment and consequently PPP training, contact a NEIS provider by visiting the Jobsearch website.
