Consultation

Consultation

The legislation to establish the national VET regulator has been developed following extensive consultation with those most affected by its establishment: the state regulators, industry groups and VET providers. The consultation process ensures the new regulatory framework is responsive to the needs of the Australian community.

In the lead-up to the establishment of the national VET regulator, more comprehensive information about the changes will be provided regularly as implementation details are finalised.

A working group of senior state and territory officials and the Commonwealth have played a central role in developing the regulatory framework. At the First Ministerial level, their work will culminate in an intergovernmental agreement for the new regulatory arrangements, which is likely to be signed soon.

Consultation on the shape of the legislation involving key industry groups as well as open consultations with training providers and other stakeholders occurred during the first half of 2010. The presentation from these sessions, as well as a summary of the feedback received, is available below.

Senate Committee Inquiry

The legislation was referred to the Senate Committee for Education, Employment and Workplace Relations for inquiry and report on 10 February 2011.

You can read the submissions, transcripts of the public hearings and the final committee report on the Committee page of the Parliament of Australia website.
