How to Enter

How do I enter the Australian Training Awards?

Entry to the Australian Training Awards is made through your state or territory training awards in aligned categories or directly to the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations.

The categories accepting entries direct to the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations are the Employer of the Year Award, the International Training Provider of the Year Award, the Lifetime Achievement Award and the five National Focus categories.

For organisations

If your organisation wins an award at your state or territory training awards in an aligned category of the Australian Training Awards, your entry will be sent to the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations where it will enter a short listing process to become a finalist at the Australian Training Awards. 

For individuals

If you win an award at your state or territory training awards in an aligned category of the Australian Training Awards you will automatically qualify as a finalist for the Australian Training Awards.

National Focus categories – direct entry requirements (NOW OPEN)

Employer of the Year Award – direct entry requirements (NOW OPEN)

National employers with more than 40 full-time employees and with operations and training activity in at least four states and/or territories may apply directly to the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations rather than qualifying via state or territory training awards processes.

National employers wishing to make a direct entry to the Employer of the Year award category must nominate direct to the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations and must be submitted by close of business, Thursday 31 May 2012.

Entries need to address the criteria for the Employer of the Year Award.

Employers are required to submit written evidence not exceeding 20 A4 pages, including attachments, against the criteria. The elements within the criteria should be the focus of the entry, however, any relevant evidence may be provided so long as it does not exceed the required page limit.

Please include a Nomination Form with your application.

International Training Provider of the Year Award – entry requirements (NOW OPEN)

Registered training organisations wishing to apply for the International Training Provider of the Year Award must nominate direct to the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (except applicants from Western Australia. Applicants from Western Australia must enter via the WA Training Awards) and must be submitted by close of business, Thursday 31 May 2012.

Entries need to address the criteria for the International Training Provider of the Year Award.

Registered training organisations submitting applications for this award are required to submit written evidence not exceeding 20 A4 pages, including attachments, against the criteria. The elements within the criteria should be the focus of the entry, however, any relevant evidence may be provided so long as it does not exceed the required page limit.

Please include a Nomination Form with your application.

Lifetime Achievement Award – direct entry requirements (NOW OPEN)

The Lifetime Achievement Award is Australia’s most prestigious vocational education and training (VET)
award and will be presented to an individual who has:

  • an established history of distinguished service
  • made a lasting contribution to VET practice
  • exhibited leadership and provided inspiration to others in the sector
  • positively influenced VET on a state, national or international level.

Entries for this award must be made direct to the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations and must be submitted by close of business, Thursday 31 May 2012.

Entries need to address the criteria for the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Entries require written evidence not exceeding 20 A4 pages, including attachments, against the criteria. The elements within the criteria should be the focus of the entry, however, any relevant evidence may be provided so long as it does not exceed the required page limit.

If you have won an award that qualifies you as a finalist for the Australian Training Awards your state or territory training awards program co-ordinator will give you more information about the Australian Training Awards following the announcements at state or territory level.
