Criteria for organisations:

This award will be presented to a small enterprise which has achieved excellence in the provision of nationally recognised training to its employees.

This award will be presented to a medium to large enterprise which has achieved excellence in the provision of nationally recognised training to its employees.

  • Eligible entries for this award may be made direct to the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, and do not need to enter via state or territory training awards. Visit Employer of the Year – Direct Entry section of this website for more information.

This Award will be presented to a registered training organisation with more than 1500 enrolled students that has demonstrated outstanding achievement in all aspects of the delivery of vocational education and training.

This Award will be presented to a registered training organisation with less than 1500 enrolled students that has demonstrated outstanding achievement in all aspects of the delivery of vocational education and training.

This Award will be presented for exemplary skills development collaboration between an employer and, at least, one other organisation.

If your organisation wins one of the above awards at the state or territory training awards, your entry will be sent to the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations where it will enter a short listing process to become a finalist at the Australian Training Awards.

This Award will be presented to a registered training organisation that has demonstrated outstanding achievement in all aspects of the delivery of vocational education and training to full-fee paying international students.

Criteria for individuals:

This award is presented to the most outstanding Australian School-based Apprentice in Australia undertaking a Certificate III or above.

This award is presented to the most outstanding vocational student in Australia.

This award is presented to the most outstanding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student in Australia.

This award is presented to the most outstanding Australian Apprentice (Trainee) in Australia.

This award is presented to the most outstanding Australian Apprentice in Australia.

This award is presented to a vocational education and training (VET) teacher or trainer who has demonstrated excellence and innovation in the delivery of nationally recognised training to students at a registered training organisation or in partnership with a registered training organisation.

If you are an individual who wins one of the above awards at your state or territory training awards you will automatically qualify as a finalist for the Australian Training Awards in the aligned category.

This award is presented to an individual who has an established history of distinguished service and who has made a lasting contribution to vocational education and training practice.
