The Hon Peter Garrett AM MP, Minister for School Education, Early Childhood and Youth, officially announced schools for Round Four on 16 December 2011.
More than $176 million for a further 87 projects, benefitting 169 secondary schools, has been announced for the fourth round of the Program.

Funding Process
DEEWR has provided Education Authorities in each jurisdiction with their funding allocation for Round Four and a Sectoral Plan template. Education Authorities will be responsible for completing Sectoral Plans and will work closely with their schools, according to their established administrative relationship, to assist schools to develop Individual Project Proposals as part of the Sectoral Plan.
Schools interested in applying for Round Four should contact their respective Education Authorities to discuss their project proposal.
Funding Agreements
Funding Agreement templates that will formalise the funding arrangements with Education Authorities or schools will be available following the approval of the Sectoral Plans by the Minister
Full Documentation Requirements
A checklist for Full Documentation is being developed and will be available here once finalised.
After the Minister for School Education, Early Childhood and Youth announces approved Sectoral Plans, schools will work with their respective Education Authorities to prepare and submit full documentation and costings for their approved project to DEEWR to finalise their Project Funding Agreement.
Full Documentation requirements will include:
- a copy of a signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for schools participating in a cluster
- a copy of a signed MOU for schools partnering with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) to deliver qualifications
- written confirmation from the site owners detailing access arrangements by all cluster schools for the duration of the designated use period (for example, a 20 year lease)
- budget and financial plan documentation, and
- site plans and floor plans for the capital works/refurbishments.

Remote Service Delivery (RSD) Schools
In 2011, one funding round will be held for the 29 national Remote Service Delivery (RSD) locations (RSD schools), coinciding with the mainstream funding round for Round Four.
From 2012 onwards, two funding rounds for RSD schools will be held each calendar year. One funding round will coincide with the time frame for mainstream applications and the second round will be held approximately six months later.
Opening and closing dates for each RSD funding round will be advertised on this website when available.

The Australian Standard Geographical Classification (ASGC) is a classification of remoteness developed by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) which defines areas across Australia.
You can find your school location through an interactive Map Look-up Tool that has been developed as part of the Department of Health and Ageing’s DoctorConnect website. This site allows you to search by address or post code to find a Remoteness Area Classification (RA) using a Google Map interface.
The DoctorConnect website uses a different classification to the ABS ASGC and the comparisons are outlined in the table below:
