The National Partnership on Teacher Quality identifies the development of national teacher standards. These Standards will inform the development of further reforms in areas that will improve national consistency. Submissions closed on 21 May 2010.
The consultation period for the draft Australian Curriculum in English, mathematics, science and history has concluded. The draft documents will remain available for viewing online and can be accessed via ACARA’s Australian Curriculum Consultation Portal.
The National Safe Schools Framework was developed in response to concerns from parents and the wider community and their expectations that Australian education authorities take every possible measure to ensure the physical and emotional safety of students.
The Australian Government has committed funding of $62.4 million over four years (2008–09 to 2011–12) for the National Asian Languages and Studies in Schools Program. The aim of the program is to increase opportunities for school students to become familiar with the languages and cultures of Australia’s key regional neighbors, namely China, Indonesia, Japan and Korea.
