“When Brooke arrived at the medical tent she was in a pretty bad way. She was extremely hot and her face was very red. When we spoke to her she was finding it difficult to answer our questions and was becoming more and more difficult to understand. |
“Her two friends who had brought her in were very distressed. They kept asking why this had happened to her and why they hadn’t had the same effect. They had all come to the dance event and taken the same ecstasy from the same batch. They thought they would all have the same effect. Even though we kept telling them that drugs like ecstasy affect different people in different ways, they found it difficult to understand.
“They had first noticed that something was wrong with Brooke on the dance floor. They had been dancing for a couple of hours after taking the pill and they started to notice that their friend wasn’t making any sense when she spoke. She then stumbled and almost fell over a couple of times.
“We told them that she was overheating and was obviously dehydrated. We did the best we could for her but finally had to send her off to the hospital in an ambulance because she was in a pretty bad way.”
