What's on this website?

The main focus of the site is REDI - Resilience Education and Drug Information. That is, information about resources, policies and materials for drug education and incident management. Whilst the actual resources, policies and materials may not be on the website, information is provided on the availability of each resource and how to source it.

The site also has a "Reading Room" with a selection of useful information for the professional development of teachers and other school staff and school community members, especially in relation to school drug education and a whole of school approach to this issue.

 

How can I obtain REDI resources?

If you are interested obtaining a copy of the REDI resources, please contact the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations at drugeducationprogramme@deewr.gov.au.

 

What's the purpose of the website and who is the site for?

The purpose of the national website is:

  • to assist schools to identify and access relevant information on effective drug education and managing drug use and drug-related incidents in schools
  • to assist tertiary educators and their students to access relevant information on effective drug education and managing drug use and drug-related incidents in schools
  • to assist parents and others in the school community to access information and strategies for talking to their children and young people about drug-related issues.

The REDI site is designed for:

  • school principals and administrators
  • classroom teachers
  • pastoral care/welfare staff and chaplains
  • specialist counsellors
  • psychologists
  • school nurses
  • school councils/boards

 

Why should I use the REDI site?

You can search the website to find resources and other information for use in teaching school drug education. For instance, if you are looking for a video to use for a Year 9 class about alcohol, you could type in a search in the Publication Search page and choose from the resources found in the search.

Tertiary educators and their students can access relevant information on effective drug education and managing drug use and drug-related incidents in schools.

Parents can access information and strategies for talking to their children and young people about drug-related issues.
