The Minister for Education, the Hon Julia Gillard MP, announced on 14 October 2009 that eighty six projects will receive a total of $1.8 million under Round One of the Becoming Asia Literate: Grants to Schools.
The first meeting of the NALSSP Reference Group was held on 29 June 2009.
The Acting Minister for Education, Mark Arbib, announced on 22 July 2009 that seven exemplary projects will receive a total of $2.75 million under Round One of the Strategic Collaboration and Partnership Fund.
