The Australian Government believes student wellbeing and safety are essential for academic and social development. All students should be able to learn and develop in safe, supportive and respectful environments. Australian schools, families and communities all have a responsibility to provide safe online environments and teach children how to use technology in positive and productive ways.

The following resources provide information for students, teachers, parents and the broader community about creating safe online environments. Access practical information to make your home and school cyber safe places:

  • Cybersmart- Developed by the Australian Communications and Media Authority, Cybersmart is part of the Australian Government’s cybersafety program. Cybersmart provides activities, resources and practical advice to help, kids, teens, teachers and parents safely enjoy the online world.
  • Bullying No Way - Bullying No Way aims to create learning environments where every student and school community member is safe, supported, respected, valued, and free from bullying, violence, harassment and discrimination.
  • Cybersafety Button - The Cybersafety Help Button is a new Australian Government initiative designed to keep children and families safe online. It is a free web-based application giving young people the ability to talk, report or learn about cybersafety issues by clicking on the Button.
  • eSmart- A national pilot to increase cybersafety in schools was conducted by the Alannah and Madeline Foundation .It involved 164 government and non-government schools in urban, rural and remote regions.
