Australian Curriculum Connect

The new digital curriculum provides many new and exciting opportunities to support teachers and students embed ICT into teaching and learning and promote curriculum-based approaches to teaching and learning.

Australian Curriculum Connect is an innovative project aimed at supporting implementation of the Australian Curriculum through enabling the use, sharing and discovery of digital resources.

$9.8 million is being made available to ESA to work with government and non-government schools’ authorities to link the Australian Curriculum to existing digital resources with improved online search and delivery capabilities. These will be accessible through the elearning platforms that teachers use locally as well as the national platform, Scootle.

The ACC is a highly collaborative project between government and non-government education authorities and national agencies. The project is sponsored by the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA), the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) and supported by the National Schools Interoperability Program (NSIP) to ensure that teachers can seamlessly access resources and tools to improve learning outcomes.

ESA is working with education authorities to integrate the ACC technologies and approaches in local e-learning environments.  This will enable teachers to share, discover and use content in elearning environments with which they are already familiar.

For example, a teacher might select English, year 2, and the content descriptions language/ expressing and developing ideas, then the elaboration of interpreting new terminology. This will point to 22 resources the teacher can select from to help students understand this concept. This technology is already being used on national education portal Scootle (see www.scootle.edu.au ) and may also be integrated into state education authority portals.
