The National BER Coordinator is a senior officer from the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations who is responsible for ensuring that BER milestones are achieved and any BER implementation issues are addressed as a matter of urgency.
States and territories Education Authorities and Block Grant Authorities have nominated a senior official to undertake the role of BER Coordinator for their sector to ensure that there is a co-ordinated project management approach undertaken for the BER investment commitments. The National BER Coordinator will work closely with each state, territory or BGA BER Coordinator.
Following the cessation of the BER Implementation Taskforce, the Department began accepting new complaints from 6 June 2011 and has taken on all unresolved complaints from the Taskforce since 6 July 2011. The Department will oversee the implementation of complaint and defect action plans.
