Revolution Recognition Ceremonies
The elements that require recognition ceremonies are:
- Primary Schools for the 21st Century - $14.1 billion for all Australian primary schools, K-12 schools (primary school component) and special schools to build new iconic facilities such as libraries, multipurpose halls or classrooms, or to upgrade existing facilities
- Science and Language Centres for 21st Century Secondary Schools - $821.8 million for the construction of new science laboratories or language learning centres.
Recognition Ceremony Process
All Recognition ceremonies must be held within three months of the completion of the project, with two months prior notice given to the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations. All invitations should be forwarded to the BERrecognition@deewr.gov.au mailbox with three proposed dates and times provided.
Recognition Kit
A Recognition Kit has been prepared as a guide to assist you with planning your event.
Sod Turnings
There is no requirement for schools to hold a sod turning/breaking of ground ceremony, however, if a school chooses to hold such an event, funding for the project should be acknowledged in any speech, media or publicity.
National School Pride (NSP)
There are no recognition requirements under the NSP program, however, should a school wish to celebrate the completion of their NSP project, a certificate can be provided on request for use in an event, or for display in the school’s front office.
If a school has received funding under one of the other BER elements as well, a plaque will be provided as part of the recognition requirements and you should register your proposed ceremony details with DEEWR towards the completion of this project.
All queries and ceremony correspondence should be forwarded the School Liaison Officer of the Building Education Revolution Taskforce via email at BERrecognition@deewr.gov.au.
