New National Literacy and Numeracy Week website

Minister Garrett was joined at the launch at Arawang Primary School in the ACT by ACT Minister for Education and Training, Andrew Barr MLA and the NLNW Ambassadors.

Literacy Ambassador, award-winning children’s author, Jackie French led the audience in a fast paced activity where they created their own unique story and Numeracy Ambassador, comedian Simon Pampena delighted the audience with his highly energetic performance in which he recited π down to 100 decimals!

NLNW runs from 29th August to 4th September 2011 and schools right across Australia have been getting involved in the national activities, including Reach for the Stars, a numeracy based activity where students from all over Australia can compare their classrooms, and Read for Australia a simultaneous book read on Wednesday 31st August.

All activity details can be found on the nlnw website www.literacyandnumeracy.gov.au.
