Minister for Early Childhood Education and Child Care Kate Ellis and the NSW Minister for Community Services Linda Burney today announced the providers of two new Early Learning and Care Centres for New South Wales.

The two organisations chosen to operate centres on NSW Government primary school sites are:

The two new centres will deliver about 130 new child care places and provide high quality early learning and care programs for children aged up to five.

The Australian Government will invest more than $2 million over two years to build these new centres.

“The first few years of a child’s life set them on a road to adulthood – we want that road to take them to good health, education and social development,” Ms Ellis said.

“Studies show quality early childhood experiences can overcome disadvantage and set children on the path to a happy and healthy life,” she said.

Ms Burney welcomed the announcement, saying the centres will help children make a smooth transition to school.

“Building Early Learning and Care Centres on school grounds means children can grow to feel part of the broader school community,” said Ms Burney.

These centres are among eleven new Early Learning and Care Centres to be established in New South Wales, including one Autism-specific centre.

The centres at North Ryde and Newcastle are due to open late this year and form part of the Australian Government’s $114.5 million plan to set up Early Learning and Care Centres at 38 locations across Australia.
