Student and professional mobility

The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) supports student and professional movement into and out of Australia through scholarships, exchanges, subsidies and international representation and agreements.

 

Scholarships

DEEWR administers the Endeavour Awards, the Australian Government’s internationally competitive, merit-based scholarship program enabling citizens of the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Europe and the Americas to undertake study, research or professional development in Australia. Awards are also available for Australians to do the same abroad.

 

Student exchanges

Through International Student Exchange Programs, the Australian Government encourages young Australians to immerse themselves in cultures of other countries and provides opportunities for international students, particularly from the region, to study in and experience Australia.

DEEWR works on a government-to-government level in relation to the recognition and mobility of qualifications internationally involving the:

 

European Union (EU)/Australia Cooperation

The EU/Australia Cooperation in Higher Education and Training initiative funds consortiums of both Australian higher education and vocational education and training (VET) institutions to undertake student mobility projects between the European Union and Australia.

Successful applications for the sixth round of projects will be announced in October 2009.
