Katherine Marnane – Endeavour Executive Award (travelled to Vietnam)

Australian Katherine Marnane spent 10 weeks undertaking professional development in Hanoi, Vietnam. Building on her experience as Director of the Vocational Education and Training Export Office (Queensland Government), Ms Marnane worked with Vietnamese industry and government and undertook a placement with the Australian Embassy, in the portfolios of trade and education.

 

Patrice Braun – Endeavour Research Fellowship (travelled to Bangladesh)

In Bangladesh, Dr Patrice Braun undertook postdoctoral research at the Asian University for Women. Dr Patrice Braun’s research focused on how IT can assist women to create sustainable livelihoods. She said the Endeavour Award creates opportunities for people to travel overseas, be part of a different society, learn and create opportunities they can take back home.

 

Dr John Evans – Endeavour Research Fellowship for Indigenous Australians

Dr John Evans undertook postdoctoral research at Massey University in New Zealand. He lived in New Zealand for six months, collecting data on the practices used by New Zealand coaches. The data was then compared with the data on Australian coaching practices. Dr Evans said his research skills were greatly improved by going to New Zealand and being part of a different research organisation. Dr Evans said he enjoyed broadening his horizons by living in another country.
