Australian Indigenous Education Foundation Scholarship Program

Australian Indigenous Education Foundation Scholarship Program

The Australian Indigenous Education Foundation is a non-profit organisation that provides boarding school scholarships and career pathways to empower young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to build a future through quality education and careers.

The Australian Government committed $20 million over 2009-10 to 2011-12 to the Foundation for it to leverage corporate and other contributions to provide scholarships for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students for 20 years.

These scholarships help students to attend the Foundation's partner schools and to graduate at Year 12 level. Some tertiary scholarships may also be available.

This funding is a direct action to help to close the gaps in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander educational outcomes and those of the Australian population as a whole, through creating greater access to additional education choice for disadvantaged Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
