Applications for the 2010 IAGDP have now closed. Candidates who have submitted an application can expect to be notified of their success in progressing to the second stage of the assessment process by the end of February 2010. Thank you for your interest in the program.
The filling of this employment opportunity is intended to constitute a special measure under section 8(1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975. This means that, in accordance with Clause 4.2(6)(b)(i) of the Public Service Commissioners Directions 1999, participation in the program is restricted to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
As part of the application process, you will be asked to confirm that you meet this requirement by providing your affirmation to the following:
- Are you a person of Aboriginal Australian or Torres Strait Islander decent?
- Do you identify as an Aboriginal Australian or Torres Strait Islander? and
- Are you accepted as such by the community in which you live or have lived?
You will also be asked to indicate your agreement to the following statement:
- I declare that the information I have entered in this application form is true and correct at the time of submission.
Providing false or misleading information as part of the application process may disqualify you from consideration, and/or possibly lead to disciplinary action for existing APS employees.
If you are invited to take part in the Assessment Centre stage of the assessment process, you will also be required to provide a ‘Verification of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Descent’ form. This form is to be endorsed (either signed or affixed with the organisation’s common seal) by an incorporated Indigenous organisation. Organisations such as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander medical services and land councils commonly provide these forms, but one will be included with your invitation.
One of the aims of the IAGDP is to increase the representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within the APS. As such, if you are a current ongoing APS employee, whilst you are not excluded from applying to participate in the program, your eligibility to do so may require the support of your Agency.
