The Australian Government has released its long-term strategy to increase the personal and economic wellbeing of Indigenous Australians. The Indigenous Economic Development Strategy 2011–2018 was launched in Sydney on 19 October 2011.
The strategy seeks to improve the prosperity of Indigenous Australians through strengthening foundations, education, skills development and jobs, business and entrepreneurship, and financial security and independence.
The strategy is informed by feedback from extensive public consultation on a draft strategy released in May 2010. Copies of the written submissions received and summaries of the public consultations held can be found at the IEDS Submissions page.
