For Students - Incurring a FEE-HELP debt

IMPORTANT DATES

YOU MUST SUBMIT the ‘Request for FEE-HELP assistance’ form ON or BEFORE the ADMINISTRATIVE DATE set by your provider (it may be the same date as the census date).

YOU CANNOT SUBMIT your ‘Request for FEE-HELP assistance’ AFTER THE CENSUS DATE.
 
YOU WILL INCUR a FEE-HELP DEBT AFTER THE CENSUS DATE if you have not withdrawn from /cancelled your enrolment in the unit(s) of study or course for which you have requested FEE-HELP assistance.

You MUST WITHDRAW FROM /CANCEL YOUR ENROLMENT IN the unit(s) of study or course for which you have requested FEE-HELP assistance ON or BEFORE THE CENSUS DATE or you will incur a FEE-HELP debt for the unit(s).

Withdrawing from study

You MUST WITHDRAW IN WRITING according to the procedures set by your provider. It is YOUR responsibility to find out what your provider requires.
 

Applying for a re-credit of FEE-HELP

If you withdraw your enrolment AFTER the census date, due to special circumstances, you can apply to your provider have your FEE-HELP balance re-credited and your FEE-HELP debt removed for the relevant unit(s) of study.

SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES apply if they:

  • were beyond your control; and
  • did not make their full impact until on or after the census date; and
  • were such that they made it impracticable for you to complete your unit(s) of study requirements.

You must make your application to your higher education provider within TWELVE MONTHS after your withdrawal day. Your provider may waive the time limit for making your application if it is satisfied that it was not possible for you to apply during that period.
