Approved higher education providers - Overview

NOTE: On 2 November 2009, the Government announced that, subject to the passage of legislation, the FEE-HELP loan fee will increase to 25 per cent for undergraduate units of study with census dates on or after 1 July 2010.

Dated: 20 May 2010

Every higher education provider approved to offer FEE-HELP assistance to eligible students has agreed to meet the requirements of the Higher Education Support Act 2003 (HESA).

The eligibility of a provider to offer FEE-HELP is directly linked to their compliance with the requirements of HESA.

HESA sets out the details of Australian Government funding and its associated legislative requirements and specifies the reporting and compliance requirements.

Guidelines are made under HESA to explain how to meet a requirement specified in the Act. Guidelines under HESA include the Administration Guidelines and the Higher Education Provider Guidelines (see Resources for links to these Guidelines)
