On 22 October 2010, Senator Chris Evans officially opened the renovated Emily McPherson Building at RMIT University in Melbourne.
With the assistance of $16.7 million provided by the Australian Government through the Teaching and Learning Capital Fund for Higher Education, RMIT has a new state-of-the-art learning and teaching facility.
Equipped with cutting-edge technology and multi-media facilities, the new spaces include two lecture theatres, five classrooms, a multi-purpose hall, a student lounge, café and rooftop terrace providing an exciting collaborative learning environment for postgraduate students.
The Emily Mac first opened its doors in 1927. The heritage listed building, originally known as the Emily McPherson College of Domestic Economy, and once thought of as the centre of home economics teaching in Victoria, has been completely renovated and reopened as the RMIT Graduate School of Business and Law.
The Teaching and Learning Capital Fund for Higher Education is funded from the Government’s Education Investment Fund (EIF). The EIF supports world-leading infrastructure investments that will transform Australian tertiary education and research.
