On 1 December 2011, the Minister for Tertiary Education, the Hon Senator Chris Evans, announced that 160 Expressions of Interest (EOI) had been received for the first stage of the EIF Regional Priorities Round. For the full announcement please see the Minister’s Media Release below.
On 7 October 2011, the Prime Minister, the Hon Julia Gillard MP, announced the opening of the Regional Priorities Round of the EIF. For the full announcement please see the Prime Minister’s Media Release below.
In the 2011-12 Budget, the Australian Government committed funding of $500 million over 5 years for a Regional Priorities Round of funding from the Education Investment Fund (EIF). Read more in the Media Release.

Final Program Guidelines
Applicants will need to familiarise themselves with the program guidelines before submitting an application. It is important that applicants review the eligibility criteria and the evaluation criteria to ensure that their project is suitable for consideration for funding from the EIF.
Draft Program Guidelines Consultation
On 13 July 2011, the Minister for Tertiary Education, the Hon Senator Chris Evans, and the then Minister for Research, the Hon Senator Kim Carr, released draft EIF Regional Priorities Round Guidelines for stakeholder consultation. For more details see the Joint Media Release.
Following a stakeholder consultation period which closed on 3 August 2011, the program guidelines for the Regional Priorities Round of the EIF were finalised. A report summarising the issues that were raised during the consultation period and the associated responses is available below.

Applications
Applications for the Round closed on 4 November 2011.
Stage 1 EOI applications are currently under consideration and all applicants will be advised in writing of the outcome of their EOI at the conclusion of the EOI stage in early 2012. Selected applicants will be invited to develop their EOIs into detailed Stage 2 applications.
Stage 2 applicants are expected to be given approximately 4 weeks to complete the Stage 2 application form. Information on Stage 2 application forms will be available on this website once the EOI stage has been completed.

Funding Agreement
In accordance with the Education Investment Fund Regional Priorities Round Program Guidelines the funding agreement can be found below:
All funding agreements with successful non-government applicants will be negotiated based on this template.
For TAFE projects a template project agreement can be viewed at

All Project Agreements between the Commonwealth and relevant State or Territory Government will be negotiated based on this template.
