Announcements

The Australian Government announced the successful EIF Round 3 and the Sustainability Round projects over the period 21 May – 15 July 2010. In total, 19 projects totalling $550 million were approved for funding across the tertiary education and research sectors. The successful projects are listed in tables below.

On 10 November 2009, institutions that submitted an EIF Round 3 and/ or EIF Sustainability Round Stage 1 application(s) were notified by the department via email as to whether or not they were shortlisted to proceed to Stage 2. Any institution that submitted an application but has not been notified should send an email to the EIF mailbox immediately.

On 4 August 2009, the Deputy Prime Minister and Senator Carr announced the opening of EIF Round 3 and the EIF Sustainability Round. Applications for EIF Round 3 and the EIF Sustainability Round closed on 8 September 2009.

Guidelines

Applicants will need to familiarise themselves with the Program Guidelines - EIF Round 3 and EIF Sustainability Round ( PDF 485KB  | RTF 514KB).

It is important that applicants review the Eligibility Criteria and ensure that they are eligible to apply before submitting an application. Applicants will also need to ensure they have read the Evaluation Criteria to ensure that their project is suitable for consideration for funding from the EIF.


Application Forms

Applications to EIF Round 3 and the EIF Sustainability Round will be assessed concurrently using a two stage application and assessment process.


Stage 1 (applications are closed)

Stage 1 applications were required to use the application form below.

*The Stage 1 Application form is not available for completion as an RTF or PDF. This is due to the form’s design. A  PDF version has been provided as a guide only.

To assist applicants, with completing the Stage 1 – application form, the below technical instructions were provided.

Stage 2 (shortlisted applications only)

The Stage 2 application must be made using the application form available through the Tertiary Education Online Service Portal (TED Online). Only short-listed applicants will be able to access the Stage 2 application form.

An email will be sent to shortlisted applicants from TED Online, providing registration details, a logon and a password. Once logged on, applicants will be able to access the Stage 2 application form. Please note that some parts of the Stage 2 application form have been pre populated with information provided in Stage 1 applications.



Submitting an Application

Stage 1 (applications are closed) 

Stage 2 (shortlisted applications only) 

Stage 2 applications must be submitted:

  • Electronically, via TED Online, by 3.00 pm Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time (AEDST) on 8 December 2009; and
  • by posting or delivering eight (8) hard copies of the application (identical to that submitted electronically) which must be received by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations by 15 December 2009.

Hard copies of application forms must be two hole punched, single sided and NOT bound.

Late applications: Both Stage 1 and Stage 2 electronic and hard copy applications must be received by the deadlines.  If either the electronic application or the hard copies of the applications are not received by the deadlines, the application will be considered as a late application.


Key Dates

  • 8 September 2009 - Stage 1 application forms must be submitted electronically by 3pm
  • 15 September 2009 - Hard copies of Stage 1 application forms must be received by DEEWR
  • 10 November 2009 - Short-listed applicants invited to submit Stage 2 applications
  • 8 December 2009 - Stage 2 application forms must be submitted electronically by 3pm
  • 15 December 2009 - Hard copies of Stage 2 application forms must be received by DEEWR
  • Early 2010 - Expected announcements of successful projects
