Join the Program

For organisations

Golden Gurus will be delivered by a community of quality organisations across Australia.

If your organisation has the capacity to connect skilled mature age people to volunteering or small business mentoring roles, you could apply to join the Golden Gurus community as a Member Organisation.

The Government is pleased to support the work of the Golden Gurus community by promoting Member Organisations nationally and by providing material to recognise and reward skilled mature age volunteers and small business mentors, including training and an exciting Ambassadors program.

For mature age people

Would you like to use your skills and experience to make a difference in your community or to a small business owner?

If you are aged 50 years and over, you could become a Golden Guru. Golden Gurus share their skills and experience to support small business owners or community organisations.

As a Golden Guru, you will be able to meet new people, develop social networks, access free training, and may participate in a rewarding Ambassadors program.

Skilled Volunteers

As a Skilled Volunteer you could share your skills and experience with a community organisation. This could involve using your business skills to build the capacity of the organisation. It could also be about sharing your life skills and experiences to support a client of that organisation (for example, a student, a young parent or a person with disability).  The emphasis is on giving back to the community.

Small Business Mentors

As a Small Business Mentor you could use your skills and experience to support a small business owner. This could include new small business owners who have established their business by completing the Government’s New Enterprise Incentive Scheme (NEIS). NEIS helps eligible unemployed people to start up and run their own small business.
