Commencing February 2010, we are providing free training for Golden Gurus and Ambassadors. The initial suite of training includes:
Introduction to Golden Gurus - covers the basics of the program and is compulsory for all Golden Gurus if your Member Organisation is not providing pre-approved introductory training.
Cultural Awareness Training - will develop Golden Gurus’ cultural awareness, and will provide you with an understanding of how your work as a Golden Guru may be shaped by cultural and linguistic diversity.
Disability Awareness Training - will develop Golden Gurus’ disability and mental health awareness, and will provide you with an understanding of how you might need to tailor your work as a Golden Guru when helping someone who has a disability or mental health condition.
Ambassadors Training - cludes an overview of the Ambassador role, and will provide prospective Ambassadors with information and strategies to equip them for this role.
Online interactive training is being delivered regularly through LiveMeet from 3 February 2010. Training will also be available as self-paced learning modules and recordings, downloadable from the Online Networking Forum soon after delivery.
LiveMeet
- The training will be delivered live on a regular basis through LiveMeet, a web-based conferencing tool. LiveMeet joins voice from the telephone with pictures from a computer to run group training or information sessions in a live virtual environment.
How to enrol
You must be connected with a Member Organisation to participate in our LiveMeet training sessions. If you are not connected with a Member Organisation, you can find one in your state on the Member Organisation page.
To enrol, please email us with your name, your email address, your three preferred training sessions (see Training Calender), and the name of your Member Organisation.
You will receive an email prior to attending a LiveMeet session which will contain a LiveMeet installation link, web address, meeting ID, entry code and (toll free) telephone number to dial in to the LiveMeet.
Before you attend your first LiveMeet it’s important that the Microsoft Office LiveMeeting client is installed correctly on your computer. If you are using a work computer your IT support area can do this for you. On the day of the training session try to log in at least 15 minutes ahead of the scheduled meeting time to make sure you can access the session.
More information will be provided to you after you enrol, including information on how to get help if you need it.
