Find your nearest JCA Provider

Since 1 July 2009, the Job Capacity Assessment program has been managed by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR). The Job Capacity Assessment program provides comprehensive work capacity assessment, combining referral to employment and related support services with assessment of work capacity for income support purposes (such as Disability Support Pension, partial capacity to work and exemptions from activity-testing due to medical conditions lasting more than 13 weeks).

Assessments are conducted by allied health professionals, such as registered psychologists and rehabilitation counsellors, employed by 18 Job Capacity Assessment service providers contracted by DEEWR.

Job Capacity Assessors refer people with disabilities and other barriers to work to appropriate employment and support services, and their reports are used for Centrelink decisions about capacity to work.
