Consultative Forum on Mature Age Participation
The Consultative Forum on Mature Age Participation will provide advice to Government on practical solutions to address barriers to employment for mature age people, with a particular focus on addressing negative attitudes toward mature age job seekers and workers. The Forum commenced on 18 February 2010.

Terms of Reference
The Forum will provide Government with a prioritised range of evidence-based solutions that may be used to build the strategic direction for mature age employment in Australia.
The Forum will focus on the following issues:
- employer and community attitudes toward mature age people; age-based discrimination,
- re-skilling and career transitions for mature age people; suitability of training,
personal barriers to participation (health, injury and disability or care-giving responsibilities),
- industry and occupation-specific responses for supporting workforce participation of mature age people; new labour market opportunities; small business development,
- retention of the expertise of older workers (for example, through mentoring, flexibility and part-time work),
- employment-related assistance for older workers (including employment services), and
- underemployment and hidden unemployment.
The Forum will complement, but not duplicate, the work of broader reforms/reviews (for example, the Henry Review, Harmer Review and Bradley Review).
