There is a range of information including registration and licences, grants and assistance, employing people and taxation.

New Enterprise Incentive Scheme

The New Enterprise Incentive Scheme assists eligible job seekers (including those of mature age) to start a new, viable small businesses.

To participate in the New Enterprise Incentive Scheme you need to be registered with a Job Services Australia provider. Your Job Services Australia provider can tell you if you are eligible. To find a provider in your area go to the link below:

If eligible, you will be referred to a New Enterprise Incentive Scheme provider. They will help you to access accredited small business training to help build your skills in setting up a small business. The training will also help you develop a business plan, to be approved by your New Enterprise Incentive Scheme provider, before you start your business.

If you are approved to operate your New Enterprise Incentive Scheme business, you will receive business mentoring and support for the first year of operation of your business. You may also be eligible for New Enterprise Incentive Scheme Allowance for up to 52 weeks, and New Enterprise Incentive Scheme Rental Assistance for up to 26 weeks.

Business Enterprise Centres are located in metropolitan, regional and rural centres throughout Australia and work with and on behalf of the micro and small business sectors.

Business Enterprise Centres provide business advice, information and other services to assist business people to make more informed business decisions. The range of services can include the following:

  • Training, short course, workshops and seminars
  • Networking opportunities
  • Mentoring
  • Counselling
  • Referrals and
  • Business incubation.
