Centrelink

If you would like help to find a job through an employment service such as Job Services Australia or Disability Employment Services, Centrelink can help. Centrelink handles the registration, assessment and referral of job seekers to Australian Government employment services.

Job Services Australia

As part of Job Services Australia, you work with a provider to develop your own combination of job search, training and other assistance to help you find and maintain a job.

If you are receiving income support, you will be referred to Job Services Australia through Centrelink. You can call Centrelink on 13 28 50, or visit your nearest Customer Service Centre, for referral to a Job Services Australia provider.

If you have been made redundant, you will have access to Job Services Australia. Job Services Australia has programs and services available to quickly reconnect you with employment opportunities.

Disability Employment Services

Disability Employment Services delivers flexible and personalised help for job seekers with disability, including those of mature age.

Disability Employment Services gives people with disability immediate access to services to help them get and keep a job including training and work experience opportunities. Disability Employment Services also provides ongoing support in the workplace for as long as necessary.

All eligible people with disability have immediate access to the service they need. There are no waiting lists.

Disability Employment Services includes two separate programs:

  • Disability Management Service for job seekers with disability, injury or health condition who need short-term support in the workplace
  • Employment Support Service for job seekers with permanent disability and a need for long-term, regular support in the workplace.

Additional Disability Employment Services assistance is available for school leavers and job seekers with moderate intellectual disability.

JobAccess

JobAccess is a free information and advice service, funded by the Australian Government, offering practical workplace solutions for people with disability and their employers. JobAccess includes a comprehensive, easy to use website and an information and advice phone line on all disability related employment matters, including:

  • How to create a supportive and healthy work environment
  • How to search for a job and  keep that job
  • Step-by-step guides on recruitment, adjusting a workplace and understanding rights and responsibilities at work
  • Work related modifications and services for people with disability
  • Disability Employment Services and programs.

Australian Apprenticeships

No matter what your age, an Australian Apprenticeship is a great way to find the career you always wanted.

Australian Apprenticeships combine time at work with training and can be full-time or part-time to give you a nationally recognised qualification and the experience you need to get the job you want.

Australian Apprenticeships are available to anyone of working age regardless of your level of education.

Australian Apprenticeships are available in a variety of qualifications levels in more than 500 occupations across Australia, in traditional trades, as well as a diverse range of emerging careers in most sectors of business and industry.

And if you are aged 25 years or over, you or your employer may be eligible for financial support during the first two years of your Australian Apprenticeship:
