On 25 March 2010 the Minister for Employment Participation Senator Mark Arbib announced the successful grant recipients for the second funding round of the Jobs Fund.
A total of $39 million in funding has been approved to deliver 53 projects through the second and final round of the Jobs Fund. These projects will help support and create jobs in communities hardest hit by unemployment and the global economic downturn.
Round 2 projects under the Get Communities Working stream include support for social enterprises to provide training and employment opportunities to people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Round 2 projects under the Local Jobs stream include support for repair and improvements to community facilities, and projects that will provide green skills for the future such as energy efficient homes and community buildings.
These projects build on the initial round of Jobs Fund projects announced in September 2009.
Round 2 projects will create approximately 1620 jobs, around 400 traineeships/apprenticeships and more than 1140 work experience positions.
