The Government has announced additional places to assist workers being retrenched as a result of the economic downturn.

The Targeted Productivity Places Program (TPPP) for newly retrenched workers will make available a total of 10 000 places at the Certificate III level and Certificate IV level commencing 1 July 2009.

The TPPP builds on the 10,000 Structural Adjustment places available in 2008/2009 for retrenched workers.

The new initiative will be welcomed by industries seeking to assist workers who have lost their jobs.
