Part-time study

Part-time study

As a job seeker you can participate in work experience activities at any time—with the assistance of your Job Services Australia provider.

Your involvement in work experience activities can give you the opportunity to build on your existing job skills, learn new skills and improve your chances of finding a job. In particular, undertaking work experience can provide practical ways for you to connect with your community and to demonstrate your abilities to potential employers.

Job seekers may undertake part-time study as a work experience activity at any time during Stream Services, or as an activity to fulfil their work experience activity requirement in the work experience phase.

Job seekers may fully satisfy their work experience activity requirement where they complete the required number of contact hours, and the study is accredited and recognised to a sufficient level, under the Australian Qualifications Framework.

Part-time study can be undertaken through the Productivity Places Program or other accredited vocational training.

Key benefits of participating in part-time study activities

Part-time study may provide you with the opportunity to learn skills that will improve your prospect of finding work.

You may be able to access training opportunities at the Certificate III level and above through the Productivity Places Program. Training places have been made available specifically for job seekers to ensure you have the skills for new work opportunities both now and in the future.

Training is delivered by registered training organisations in a wide range of industries and occupations where job opportunities currently exist.

Who can participate in part-time study activities?

If you are a job seeker registered with a Job Services Australia provider, you can participate in part-time study at any time. If you and your Job Services Australia provider agree it will benefit you, it may form part of your Employment Pathway Plan.

If you are a job seeker required to complete an Intensive Activity, you can do this through participating in part-time study. Your Job Services Australia provider will advise you if you are required to complete an Intensive Activity.

How to become involved

If you are interested in part-time study activities you should discuss your interest with a Job Services Australia provider.
