Initiatives to help find and train the right job seekers for your business
Employer Brokers
This initiative is a key feature of Job Services Australia's support for employers. Employer Brokers will work with employment services and training providers to better understand the needs of individual employers, or groups of employers, in specific industries or regions. Employer Brokers can provide you with practical assistance if you are facing skills or labour shortages. Your organisation may be able to participate in activities set up by an Employer Broker in your local area.
Employment Pathway Fund
Job Services Australia providers have access to a flexible pool of funding called the Employment Pathway Fund (EPF) to purchase a broad range of assistance to help job seekers get the right training and other support they need to find and keep a job. Job Services Australia providers may be able to assist employers through the EPF by providing work incentives for ongoing and sustainable employment and on-the-job training for job seekers.
Australian JobSearch
You have free access to Australia’s largest free online job website, Australian JobSearch, where you can advertise for staff and find the right person, with the right skills, for your business. Australian JobSearch is a separate initiative that works in support of Job Services Australia. You can use JobSearch yourself to list any vacancies or just call the Employer Hotline on 13 17 15 to have them create a listing for you. And it’s all free of charge.
Work experience
Providing job seekers with work experience is a key focus of Job Services Australia. Through participating in work experience, job seekers have the opportunity to gain skills and take part in training, ensuring they are best placed to meet your needs and fill your vacancies.
Innovation Fund
The Innovation Fund engages disadvantaged job seekers in work and training activities, giving them more opportunities to become work ready and an active part of Australia’s economic future.
Employers are integral to this initiative's success. Your involvement can promote social inclusion for job seekers who have experienced barriers to employment.
Helping to close the gap for Indigenous job seekers
Job Services Australia, through the Indigenous Employment Program (IEP), can help Indigenous organisations, individuals, communities and family groups who want to start their own business.
It can also help existing Indigenous businesses—at any stage during the life cycle of their business—to expand their business through a range of tailored services. This assistance can be provided through an IEP panel member or as a package of financial assistance. For more information call the Indigenous Employment Line on 1802 102.

Additional initiatives to benefit your business
The Australian Government has released a series of additional initiatives that will work hand-in-hand with Job Services Australia, to help strengthen the Australian economy and provide support for employers.
Productivity Places Program
This program is specifically designed to help existing workers and job seekers develop skills in areas of industry demand. The Productivity Places Program also includes training opportunities for job seekers to Certificate III level, providing a pool of trained job seekers to you as a prospective employer.
Australian Apprenticeships
The Australian Apprenticeships package includes training for apprentices and trainees and help to secure work and stay connected to their local workforce. An additional completion payment has been made available to employers to retain apprentices and trainees.
As an employer (also including group training organisations) you may be eligible to receive up to an additional $2800 by taking on an eligible out-of-trade apprentice or trainee.
Jobs Fund
The Jobs Fund is an initiative which will support and create jobs and skills development through projects that build community and social infrastructure. Your business may also be eligible to tender for the Australian Government funded infrastructure projects—if so you will gain preference if you can demonstrate a commitment to retain and employ new trainees and apprentices.
Support for you in the workplace
The Australian Government has established an independent umpire, Fair Work Australia to oversee Australia’s workplace relations system. Fair Work Australia is a modern accessible body. Its focus is on providing fast and effective assistance for employers and employees.
Fair Work Australia has the power to vary awards, make minimum wage orders, approve agreements, determine unfair dismissal claims and make orders on such matters as good faith bargaining and industrial action, to help employees and employers resolve disputes at the workplace.
There is also an inspectorate headed by the Fair Work Ombudsman. The Fair Work Ombudsman provides employers and employees with a one-stop information and advice service on all aspects of workplace relations, which can be accessed by visiting fairwork.gov.au or by calling the Fair Work Infoline on 13 13 94.
