Employment Services Deed 2009-2012 (Job Services Australia)

The Employment Services Deed 2009-2012 commenced on 1 July 2009. Job Services Australia (JSA) providers were awarded employment services business under the Deed across the following four services including Stream Services (SS), Harvest Labour Services (HLS), National Harbour Labour Information Services (NHLIS), and New Enterprise Incentive Scheme (NEIS).

Different versions of the Deed were prepared to reflect the different combination of services, and DEEWR gave each JSA provider only the version of the Deed which was applicable to the combination of services that it was contracted to provide.

A copy of the Deed can be requested through DEEWR’s Freedom of Information website.

The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) provides opportunities for organisations – large and small – to become part of the contracted employment and related services market.

Request for Tender for Employment Services 2009–12

The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) is undertaking a competitive tender process to purchase employment services for 2009–12.

The Minister for Employment Participation, the Hon Brendan O’Connor MP, released the Request for Tender (RFT) for Employment Services 2009–12 following extensive consultation with job seekers, employers and employment service providers on the framework for employment services and how best to implement it. The Australian Government is confident the services tendered will prove more flexible, easier and more effective for employment service providers to deliver and produce better results for employers and job seekers.

The services purchased will commence on 1 July 2009.

Increasing Indigenous Employment Opportunity

The Minister for Employment Participation, the Hon. Brendan O’Connor MP, and the Minister for Housing, Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, the Hon. Jenny Macklin MP, released a discussion paper on proposed reforms to the Community Development Employment Projects (CDEP) program and Indigenous Employment Program on Monday 6 October 2008. The paper is titled Increasing Indigenous Employment Opportunity.

A series of national consultations sessions seeking feedback on the proposed Indigenous employment model will commence on 20 October.
