Information for Software Providers:
Software registration
Purpose
Software registration ensures that the software provider’s business practice software meets the Child Care Management System (CCMS) requirements, and that it effectively interfaces with the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA) through the CCMS Service Provider Interface.
Process
Software providers are required to complete a number of test scenarios (see below) that cover all of the interfaces listed in the latest version of the Service Provider Interface Technical Specification. These registration tests (conducted by FaHCSIA, which currently hosts the CCMS on its IT platform) will confirm that the software interfaces correctly with CCMS.
If the software successfully completes the test scenarios it will qualify for registration.
Once registered, company details and the specific version of registered software will be listed on the CCMS section of the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) website. This list informs child care services of software that complies with CCMS requirements.

CCMS software certification
Purpose
DEEWR has introduced a software certification process to confirm that CCMS registered software products used by child care services comply with relevant legislative requirements under the A New Tax System (Family Assistance) (Administration) Act 1999 (the Act).
Software certification is voluntary. It involves testing third party software products to confirm their compliance with certain functions in relation to the Act and related DEEWR policies, functions and objectives.
Process
The certification process has been developed in consultation with CCMS software providers and testing will cover three categories:
- Fraud Control
- Data Integrity
- Information Access

Single sign-on solution for secure DEEWR web sites
The single sign-on solution has been developed to enable users to access the secure DEEWR websites using their CCMS software.
It will remove the need for child care service providers to manually enter their user authentication information into more than one system.
The single sign-on technical requirements will provide CCMS vendor developers with a clear set of requirements to set up the single sign-on solution.
- For a copy of the Single Sign-on Technical Requirements, please contact the CCMS mailbox

CCMS Technical Reference Group
The CCMS Technical Reference Group (TRG) was established at the start of the CCMS project as part of consultations between the Government and software providers on technical aspects of the CCMS. All child care software providers are considered part of the TRG and use the CCMS mailbox to seek clarification about CCMS solutions.
Future meetings of the TRG will be held as required.
