Long Day Care Areas of Need One-Off Grant

Approximately 190 identified Long Day Care services will be eligible to receive the Long Day Care Areas of Need One-Off Grant. These services were identified by the Office of Early Childhood Education and Child Care as being located in areas of low socio-economic areas of need, relying on the Australian Bureau of Statistics Socio-Economic Indexes for Areas (SEIFA). Services eligible for this payment are not in receipt of other operational subsidies under the Community Support Program such as Sustainability Assistance.

Funding for the Long Day Care Areas of Need One-Off Grant is being provided through the Child Care Services Support Program. Only eligible services identified by the Office will receive the
one-off grant of $20,000 (GST excl).

The grant will provide practical assistance to Long Day Care services operating in disadvantaged areas to enhance the early childhood environment, better provide for the educational needs of children in care and strengthen the capacity and skills of staff. It will also assist the eligible services to prepare to meet the broader objectives of the early childhood education and child care agenda.
